31DC - Day 15: Watercolor

Woohoo we're officially at the half way mark of the 31 day challenge! Today's theme is a first for me called watercolor nails. I looked up a tutorial for it on youtube, than decided to do an all blue watercolor manicure. My base color is Decades of Dysfunction by Orly, and the blues are Swimsuit... Nailed It! by OPI, For Audrey by China Glaze, BK #30 from the Born Pretty Store, and Love From Above by Tip Top Nail Addict.

Born Pretty Store Review

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you are all enjoying this well needed weekend, I know I am!Today I have 3 products from the Born Pretty Store to show you today.

Shipping and Packaging
The shipping took unusually long to get to me (Almost 6 weeks!) which I am going to blame on it being sent around the holidays which is always crazy for post offices. All the items arrived safely in a bubble mailer.

Product and Trial
The three products I received are the:
-12 Color Line Nail Art Striping Tape Design Lines
-Black Nail Art Brush Oblique Brush for UV Gel Use Pen
-BK Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Art Polish #30

The BK Sweet Candy Fast Dry nail polishes do not have names, just numbers. The color I selected is #30. These polishes come in little 8ml bottles with caps that match the polish color which I thought was cute. The brush is a little bit smaller than average, but was very easy to work with. I only used 2 coats to get full coverage & added a coat of Gelous for added shine.
I selected the oblique nail art brush knowing that I would use it for clean up. To put it to the test, I purposely put nail polish on my skin and under my cuticles. Here is the before and after:
Before
After
The last item I received a pack of 12 striping tape. It comes in 12 different colors which are Gold, Pink, White, Deep green, Red, Deep blue, Neon Rose, Silver, Brown, Light blue, Green, and Purple. Striping tape is used for all sorts of nail art. It can be used and left on the nail for a pretty and neat line or you can do what I have done and apply the strips on the nail, paint over them, then reveal the design you have created. The base color (the lines) in this manicure is the BK Sweet Candy fast drying polish in #30, and the top color is Tip Top Nail Addicts Love From Above. For pictures, check out my full post here.
Final Thoughts
Overall I am very satisfied with these products. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the striping tape! The polish however had a funny smell to it, and although I love the brush and how soft it is and how well it worked, it feels like silver bit is starting to separate from the rest of the brush!

The Black Nail Art Brush Oblique Brush for UV Gel Use Pen costs $1.70, the BK Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Art Polish costs $2.95, and the  12 Color Line Nail Art Striping Tape Design Lines Set costs $8.99 with free shipping, but Daisy has provided me with a coupon for you guys to make the deal even sweeter! If you use the code "SKL91" during checkout, you will receive an additional 10% off your purchase!

31DC - Day 10: Geometric

We are officially 1/3 of the way through the 31 day challenge and I'm feeling great! At this point I'm giving myself a huge pat on the back because I have never changed my nails every single day before, let alone with nail art! Today's theme was geometric and to be honest I had no clue what I was gonna do. So when all else fails, break out the striping tape and hope for the best! I really like the outcome of this manicure, not too shabby for my first time using striping tape.

UP The Movie Nails

Hello beautiful people! Yesterday I took to Facebook and asked some of my fans what kind of manicure I should do next. There were PLENTY of GREAT ideas (some which I thought were too good for me to even attempt), but thanks to Nichole Crooks today's manicure is inspired by the movie UP!

The base color is Tip Top Nail Addict's Love From Above which is the perfect sky blue. The balloons, house, and title were all drawn with acrylic paints. I am absolutely in love with the results! What do you think?

Tip Top Nail Addict Swatches and Review

Hello lovely lacquer lovers! Today's post consists of 4 polishes from a brand called Nail Addict by Tip Top. I acquired these polishes from a "name that polish" contest on Tip Top Nails South Africa's Facebook page. I don't believe these polishes are available for sale in North America (correct me if I am wrong), but I would love to get my hands on some more of these if I can!

This first polish is called "Barely There". It is a beautiful nude color which I doubted at first glance, but when I put this on my nails my opinion totally changed. This color can be described as a cross between a very pale pink and beige that is packed with glitter and flakies. I think this would look gorgeous on any skin tone. This is 2 thin coats and it has good pigmentation.

Next up is "Smitten". This is a very gorgeous hot pink (Although it looks like its a pink-red) with a slight shimmer. In my bottle I seen little gold glitter but it is not visible upon application. This is 2 thin coats and it is very opaque.
Third polish is called "Devoted" and I was least excited about this color. Don't get me wrong, this color is nice, I just have issues with red polishes hahaha. Devoted is a metallic red with visible pink and silver glitter within it. This polish is also 2 coats.
Lastly but certainly not least, my FAVORITE of the bunch "Love From Above". This is a baby blue polish with a slight silver shimmer that is not very visible. I have been searching for the perfect baby blue for a long time, and this is it. This is 2 coats.
I loved this color so much I wore it as a mani for a whole week which is long for me (LOL). I added an accent with OPI's "Gone Gonzo" and later matted it out with NYC's "Matte Me Crazy" top coat .
Overall these polishes are amazing. The pigmentation is great, the brush is nice and wide, and I love the teeny tiny bottles ^_^ ! I hope to get my hand on more of these because I love how nicely they apply and they do not have a harsh smell. Until next time, have a great day ! :)
