Sally Hansen - I ♥ Nail Art Tool Kit Review

Hola everyone! I am still apart of nubbin-nation as you can see, but I got tired of not posting, so I decided to say "who cares" and flaunt em! Today I'll just be doing a quick review of the Sally Hansen  I ♥ Nail Art Tool Kit.

The kit includes:

• 1 dotting tool
• 1 striping brush
• 1 detail brush
• Sheet of nail stencils

The polishes I used are Lincoln Park After Dark and Alpine Snow by OPI. On my index & middle finger I used the stencils, on my ring finger I used the dotting tool, and on my pinky I used the striping brush.

I found the stencils to be extremely fragile (as the triangle one seen above ripped due to fine lines), and need some improvement. Small items on the stencils, such as the bow seen above work great, but I found that the larger stencils lift from the nail on one side due to the curve of your nail. The striping brush and dotting tool work just as well as ones twice the size. All of these tools are mini sized, making nail art easy when on the go, but not so small that they are too hard to work with. Overall I would recommend this kit to beginners with nail art, and to people that would like to just throw it in their purse and go!

Nail Polish Canada Holiday Contest - Week One: Snow

So it's Nail Polish Canada's 2nd annual holiday nail art challenge, and I have decided to join yet again! The theme for week one is anything to do with snow... Here's what I came up with.

Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Nails?

So this weekend I hit up Sally's to pick up a big ol' bottle of nail polish remover and some top coat, but I still had $5.00 to make up before I hit the $20.00 mark to use the coupon, so I was able to pick up a polish (yay)! After struggling for a good 10 minutes, I finally chose ONE polish, and that polish is Colorful Collage by Finger Paints.

Colorful Collage is packed with multiple sizes of silver holographic hexagonal glitters in a clear base.

That same night I removed my old manicure and this baby went right onto my nails! The base color I used for this manicure is two coats of U Pink Swear by Milani, I then applied one coat of Colorful Collage.

I loved this manicure, but it felt like something was missing... I just didn't know what at the time. So a day after applying this manicure I whipped out my nail foil and added some to the tips of my nails. The nail foil glue brush applied the glue streaky, which I actually like because it gives the foil a cool look when applied. The more I looked at my nails after I was finishes, the more I was reminded of the pink Power Ranger. Am I the only one that thinks so? I don't know...

How Will You Remember?

Happy Remembrance & Veterans Day everyone! I'm expressing my respect for those that have fought & died for us and our freedom in one of the best ways I know how; on my nails.Today at school we held a bake sale to raise money to donate to the Veterans Fund, and I thought it would be cute to do a poppy colored gradient to match the colors of a poppy. The colors I used for this manicure are Liquid Vinyl and Grave Mistake by Orly and With Love by China Glaze (Now that I think about it, the names of the red polishes I used in this manicure are kind of ironic and represent today)! Hope you all had an amazing Monday!

NOTD - Planet Polish Junkie

Hello everyone! Today I just wanted to quickly show you my current "out of this world" manicure. I achieved this look by using the following products:

I know it's kind of hard to tell the different holographic polishes apart in this manicure through photographs, but it really is noticeable in "real life". Vintage Rock Chic Nail Art - Inspired by Robin Moses

Hello everyone! Today I have some nail art to show you that was inspired by the wonderful Robin Moses. I chose to recreate one of her vintage nail looks, and I think they came out pretty awesome (besides my sloppy stripes & sucky roses hahaha)! I will include a link to her tutorial at the end of this post for anyone that will also like to recreate this look.

I don't own any Julie G polishes like she uses in her video, so I used some similar China Glaze shades instead. The peach color is Peachy Keen, The minty color(s) (I added some white into the original color) is For Audrey, and I forgot the name of the pink I used. The black is acrylic paint, and the studs are from the Born Pretty Store.

Guest of the Day: Go Polish Yourself - Trees if You Please

Hi, in case you are new to my blog, let me introduce myself!

I go by Rikya, but my real name is Ashley. My blog is Go Polish Yourself.

This is my first guest post ever, so I do hope I do well at it and I hope you who are new to my blog keep reading it :)

So let's get on with it!

I thought it would be fun to make a sort of cover picture for my post, so this post is entitled

"Trees If You Please!"

I want to start off by showing you what I used in this tutorial of how I made my nails into autumn trees.

I used Bagettes.

(basically little plastic bags, the reason for these will be evident later on :) )

I also used a selection of polishes.

From the left, we have:

L.A. Colors Art Deco~ Black Sparkles

Essie~ Meet Me at Sunset?

Sinful Colors~ Unicorn

Nailtiques~ Vegas

Wet n Wild Wild Shine~ French White Creme

I am going to start off this post by saying I am not exactly the best of artists, so my "art" is mostly effort based.

That being said, I started off by taking one of the bagette bags...

Taking some clear polish and painting a rectangular area on the bag and letting it dry.

 

Once the area was dry, I put three lines on the clear polish...

  

Then I finished the (naked) tree by adding branches.

Finally comes the tricky part...

Paint a nail white and whilst still wet...

 

peel the clear polish back with the trees on it, cut to your desired shape and size...

and then decorate!! I decorated using drops of all the colors I listed above.

 

I just wanted to show you a final picture. It's a closer up picture of my thumb, which was my favorite of my nails. :)
